Gwendolyn Place is an integral part of the multi-phase project, Legends South, which comprises Mahalia Place, Hansberry Square, Savoy Square, and Coleman Place. A partnership of Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization, this development is an important component of Chicago Housing Authority’s Historic Plan Forward. Gwendolyn Place offers 71 beautiful, new apartments spread over 14 buildings including three-, five- and six-flats and a four story building, all of which were designed with a variety of architectural styles that complement the neighborhood. Built with features such as water-conserving plumbing, certified and recycled wood materials, insulated entry doors, low/no VOC paints and primers, a cool roof and reflective paving, the development was designed to be environmentally sustainable. The amenities at Gwendolyn Place include Energy Star dishwashers, washers and dryers, carpeting, central air conditioning, window treatments, a management office, a meeting space, off-street parking, an intercom entry-system and a tot-lot.
