Kent Mansion & Townhomes

Location: Chicago

Type: Homeownership Developments
Use: Condominiums & Townhomes
Cost: $3 million
Status: Completed 1999.

This elegant Queen Anne style mansion was designed in 1882 by Daniel Burnham’s renowned architectural firm Burnham and Root, along a stretch of south Michigan Avenue celebrated for its stately homes and gardens. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and designated a Chicago Landmark in 1987, the building was perfectly positioned for restoration in an area that had fallen on hard times but was primed for renewal. The extensive historic renovation and conversion of the multi-level structure was complemented with the construction of seven well-appointed townhouses on an adjacent vacant lot designed to harmonize with the mansion and create an intimate, welcoming courtyard setting.
