The redevelopment of this former public housing site was designed to provide quality housing to families across a broad income spectrum and reconnect the 29-acre site with the surrounding community. Developed with input from former residents and community stakeholders, Red Maple Grove includes 165 rental apartments and 52 for-sale single family homes, plus a community center with computer lab, exercise room, kindergarten classroom, tennis courts, swimming pool and 2-acre park. The spirit of new urbanism that shaped the project –walkability, connectivity, quality urban design, sustainability and more – won the development the 2008 Governor's Award for Excellence in Affordable Urban Housing.
