To meet the need for affordable housing and redevelopment in Rock Island’s central city district, Brinshore took on the adaptive reuse of three historic buildings granted national landmark status in 1999: The Ann Goldman, Peoples National Bank and Fries Building. This joint venture between Brinshore and the Rock Island Economic Development Corporation included close collaboration with the City and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency to preserve the former department stores’ unique features. The upper floors were converted into 52 apartments distinguished by the creative use of interior space, unique floor plans, quality construction and appealing interiors, as part of a broader effort to support bringing new life to downtown Rock Island.
