Brinshore’s New Village redevelopment in Kalamazoo – our first major project in Michigan – begins later this summer.

In its first major project in the State of Michigan, Brinshore is working with the LIFT Foundation to provide affordable, quality housing in the Kalamazoo and Portage area. Kalamazoo has been in the midst of major public and private revitalization efforts in recent years, and the New Village Park project is an important part of that larger effort. Our comprehensive rehabilitation of this 40-year-old, 245-unit HUD Section 8 property, formerly part of the New Horizon Village public housing development, includes subdividing New Village Park’s 152 units from the larger site into 18 townhomes and multi-unit buildings with a unit mix of 63 one-bedroom units, 51 two-bedroom units, 28 three-bedroom units, and 10 four-bedrooms units.

Brinshore’s partner in the project, the LIFT Foundation, was founded in May 1966 out of the collaborative efforts of representatives from local business, community, and nonprofit groups to channel public and private dollars into the creation and management of affordable, safe, stable housing for low-income people in metropolitan Kalamazoo.
