Oak and Larrabee is a mixed-income development by Brinshore-Michaels, Chicago Housing Authority and Cabrini Green LAC CDC that will offer a new 7-story midrise apartment building, two traditional brick rental six-flats, and 18 for-sale townhomes on the Cabrini Green sites near Oak, Larrabee, Cambridge and Walton Streets in Chicago. Offering ideal housing situations to returning Cabrini Green families, the project will be comprised of 10 studios, 24-1 bedrooms, 51-2 bedrooms, and 19-3 bedrooms. The development team will work with Case Western Reserve and Near North Unity Project to implement community engagement and community cohesion strategies. Designed to meet the Enterprise Green Communities certification, the community will be sustainable and offer features such as high efficiency HVAC, solar hot water heating, green roofs on the townhomes, and energy efficient appliances. Other amenities and services will include a community room, exercise room, market rate amenities, washers and dryers, dishwashers, indoor parking, tot lot, private fenced yards for the townhomes, a shared backyard green space for the six-flats and after school tutoring programs.
