The redevelopment of this former public housing site was designed to provide quality housing to families across a broad income spectrum and reconnect the 29-acre site with the surrounding community. Developed with input from former residents and community stakeholders, Red Maple Grove includes 165 rental apartments and 52 for-sale single family homes, plus a community center with computer lab, exercise room, kindergarten classroom, tennis courts, swimming pool and a 2-acre park. The spirit of new urbanism that shaped the project, namely, walkability, connectivity, quality urban design and sustainability, won the development the 2008 Governor's Award for Excellence in Affordable Urban Housing.
