For decades, this striking 1903 structure, situated just steps from the Mississippi River in the heart of downtown Rock Island was regarded as one of the town’s finest apartment buildings, earning it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was meticulously restored to preserve and showcase the ornamental fireplaces, high ceilings, bowed bay windows and built-in cupboards that define its apartments. Sala Flats has been a linchpin in the wave of historic restoration that has successfully revitalized Rock Island's downtown, helping earn the project the Richard H. Driehaus Historic Preservation Award in 2006. Download Pdf
